Sculpture.
A polychrome glazed stoneware piece; the face, hair and hat rendered in ochre and reddish-brown, the shoulders and plinth tinted green and ochre.
Art Nouveau period.
Signed P. JEANNENEY on the back of the plinth and PRUD’HOMME on the right-hand side of the plinth, dated 1906 on the left-hand side of the plinth and titled *Le Défi* on the front of the plinth.
Height: 37 cm – Length: 31 cm – Depth: 22 cm
Two kiln cracks on the top of the hat, a chip in the enamel on the left shoulder, a chip and a missing section at the tip of the left shoulder, and another chip around the edge of the base.
