Attributed to Ferdinand WAGNER II (1847–1927). Set of five Symbolist glazed ceramic plaques: The Cycle of Life - The Three Ages of Life (signed and dated ‘F. Wagner / 06’ in the bottom right-hand corner), - The Recumbent Body and the Smoking Altars (monogrammed ‘FW’ in the bottom left-hand corner) - The Adoration of the Buddha (unsigned) - The Sphinx and the Procession of Women (monogrammed ‘FW’ in the bottom right-hand corner) - The Night Crossing (unsigned), which brings the cycle to a close with the passage into the afterlife. The first four plates are of the same dimensions (36.5 × 14 cm); the last, narrower one (31 × 14 cm), concludes the series. One has a crack.
