Description
A fine court sword with a slender triangular blade, lightly engraved at the base with floral motifs and signed on the hollow side: ‘J.STAMM FABR. A SOLINGEN’. Fine iron mountings, re-pierced olive-shaped pommel with ‘mushroom’ rivets; flat re-pierced crossguard, consisting of two identical opposing branches separated by a faceted orb and surrounded by a knotted ribbon. Quillon arched forwards; guard escutcheon with a rosebud motif. No figurative donkey (late 18th century). Oval guard plate with a rivet decoration imitating stylised flowers on the reverse side. Curved tang adorned with chevron-patterned iron filigree and separated by a fine coil of wire; both ends of the tang feature a braided filigree ferrule. No scabbard. Total length 965 mm.
