Description
ART DÉCO PIECE – A MODEL COMMONLY ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL FOLLOT (1877–1941) ‘Cornucopias’ – a design created around [1925]; a very slight variation is held at the Musée d’Orsay (inv. OAO 1737) and attributed to Paul Follot A pair of bergère chairs in ribbed beech, carved and stained. The front legs extend into armrests and are carved with the title motifs. The waistbands and the edges of the backrests feature an ovate decoration, also carved. The connecting blocks and the armrest post capitals feature carved motifs of stylised flowers. The backrests, cushions and armrest cuffs are upholstered in rust-coloured velvet. Height: 88 cm – Length: 74 cm – Depth: 73 cm Shows signs of wear. Public collections: Musée d’Orsay, Paris – A very slightly different version is held in the collections of this institution under inventory number OAO 1737. Expert: Emmanuel Eyraud.
