A chiselled and gilded bronze clock, flanked on the left by a full-length figure of a vestal virgin wearing a long draped tunic, holding a water jug and a libation cup, a lyre and a wreath of Victory at the base, a column surmounted by a covered cup on the right. In the centre, a pediment housing a circular dial with Roman numerals, signed ‘Gottlieb Gübsmann in Stüttgardt’ (engraved on glass), decorated with cornucopias and a caduceus. Rectangular base decorated in bas-relief with butterflies, garlands of roses and torches. Frieze of water leaves. Base with four spinning-top feet. Attached bell. Key. Circa 1820–1830.
