Beautiful 18k (750‰) yellow gold snuffbox with chased decoration of foliate scrolls, flowers in full bloom on a guilloché background and presenting a central hexagonal cartouche bearing the royal crown and numerals

Louis-François TRONQUOY (1798 circa -1871), silversmith, son of Jean-François TRONQUOY opened his shop "La Tabatière" at 8 rue des Prouvaires in Paris in 1827, probably taking over the business and premises of the silversmith Simon-Achille Léger. He worked at the same address until June 1871.
During the Restoration and the July Monarchy, he specialised in the manufacture of "present" boxes, usually made of gold and decorated with enamel or precious stones, presented by the king or members of the royal family.
He worked in collaboration with BAPST, Joaillier du Roi et de la Couronne.
