Bibliography: Art Lorrain website: This short-lived glassworks was established around 1925/1926 and ceased production in 1939
Founded by Henry BLOCH, originally from Alsace, who, following the defeat of 1871, initially emigrated to the United States.
On his return to France, he settled in Sarrebourg, where he married. There, he opened a shop specialising in glassware and earthenware. In 1913, the Bloch family moved to Metz, where he set up a new shop, still specialising in glassware and earthenware. Henry Bloch’s son, Marcel, took over the business shortly afterwards and opened a decorative workshop under the name VERAMÉ. Working in collaboration with the Meisenthal glassworks, the decorative artisans adorned raw, clear, coloured or multi-layered glass objects using acid etching.
The Second World War brought the company’s operations to an end.
