Pierre Claude PAJOL, born ‘Pajot’ (Besançon 1772 – Paris 20 March 1844), was a general of the Empire and a French politician. He was one of the leading figures in Napoleon I’s light cavalry. The title of Count of the Empire was conferred upon him by imperial decree on 25 November 1813.
On 21 August 1830, Pajol was awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour (a decoration he had already received during the Hundred Days).
He was one of the modern generals to have suffered the most serious injuries. During his campaigns, sixteen horses were killed beneath him, and he earned all his ranks on the battlefield.
