COMPAGNIE DES INDES
Two rare octagonal, tripod-shaped porcelain salt cellars with polychrome decoration featuring the coat of arms of James Dickson, Lord of Ednam (Scotland, County of Roxburgh) on the base, and flowers and a frieze on the sides and rim.
The pieces are from the service made for James Dickson (1712–1771), Lord of Ednam. As he had no children, his two nephews inherited his estate, and the service remained in the family until it came into the possession of Sir John Dixon-Poynder, a direct descendant of Admiral William Dickson.
