Alberto Pasini (1826-1899) was an Italian painter who, after travelling in the Middle East, particularly Persia and Turkey, produced paintings of markets, caravans, palaces and scenes of daily life. His style is characterised by the richness of his colours, the precision of his details and his rendering of light. Alberto Pasini's works are held in several major museums:
The Metropolitan Museum of Art owns A Mosque (1872 and 1886) and Street Scene in Cairo (1860),
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts holds Entrée au bazar du Cire the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Reims holds several landscapes by the painter, including Paysage (1855) and Paysage avec cours d'eau.
