Edy Legrand (1892-1970): After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he discovered Morocco in 1923 and returned there regularly, staying in Marrakech and the High Atlas in particular.
Fascinated by the vibrant light, he painted scenes of markets and interiors, nomadic encampments, dances and landscapes. Close to Jacques Majorelle, his style blends modernity, fluidity of line and sensuality of colour, renewing the Orientalist tradition with a more lively and contemporary vision.
