Charles Christofle, 1844-1847. RARE SUGAR TONGS FROM THE TABLE OF LOUIS-PHILIPPE IER, KING OF THE FRENCH, AND HIS FAMILY AT THE CHÂTEAU D'EU Engraved with the coat of arms of the last king of the French, azure with three golden fleurs-de-lys with a silver label surmounted by the closed crown, on a background of tricoloured flags, with the sceptre and the hand of justice in saltire. Threaded model Gilt metal Length: 16 cm Hallmarks: de maître for Charles Christofle circa 1844-1848 with the CHRISTOFLE stamp. These pieces are listed in the State of Christofle Silverware taken out of the Palais d'Eu and sent to England to the d'Orléans family after the revolution of February 1848 (see illustration in cat. annex).
