A copy of this miniature portrait of the Duc d'Alençon by François Meuret is known; it appears on one of the four bracelets that belonged to Queen Marie-Amélie and depicted her grandchildren (see ill. A: sale of the collections of Feus Monseigneur and Madame la Comtesse de Paris, Christie's Paris, 14 October 2008, lot 466).
François Meuret's works are held in British royal collections as well as in a number of French public institutions such as the Louvre and Condé museums in Chantilly.French press cartoonist, caricaturist and painter. A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, Benjamin Blache made a name for himself in 1887 for his portraits in Indian ink, one of which he exhibited at the 1890 International Black and White Exhibition. Blache made his debut in the southern illustrated press in the 1880s. Nicknamed "the vaudevillian of the Marseilles pencil", he produced portraits, news cartoons and caricatures for Le Bavard (1892-1910, 1914-1917 and 1922-1924), Massilia (1908), Les Tablettes marseillaises (1904, 1913), Nîmes-Journal (1910-1914) and Le Petit Marseillais and Le Petit Provençal.
