Description
Cartel in brass and brown tortoiseshell marquetry, the case decorated with "Boulle à la Bérain" marquetry in brass and brown tortoiseshell in the tradition of Jean I Bérain (1649-1711). The straight lines of the frame are tempered by rich ornamentation in chased and gilded bronze with acanthus leaves, rosettes in full bloom, friezes of palmettes and fleurons. The doucine top is crowned with an allegorical figure of Time in the guise of an old man holding a scythe (missing). The lower part of the curved pediment façade is decorated in bas-relief with a figure of Venus on her chariot pulled by a triton.
