Description
Archaeology. Egypt. Amulet mould depicting a flower with sixteen petals. Red terracotta. Diameter approx. 3.5 cm. Presented with its composite counter-imprint. Such amulets were faience inlays in the shape of rosettes (or daisies), inspired by Amarnian decoration. They adorned the opulent palaces of the early Ramessides. On the reverse, an inscription in faded ink (‘Pharaonic period 2000 BC’?). Provenance: public auction in France. New Kingdom, Late Period (1580–332 BC). See a similar example in the Louvre: RFML.AE.2018.62.0.9.
