Description
A large gilded bronze CHIMNEY ORNAMENT with rich decoration featuring garlands, scrolls, lion’s muzzles, trimmings and acanthus leaves. It comprises, on the one hand, a clock surmounted by a lidded pot, the dial being enamelled in white with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, flanked by two lion’s muzzles holding knotted ropes, supported by scrolls with foliage and garlands, on a rectangular plinth with godrons and acanthus leaves; and, on the other hand, two five-light candelabra featuring the same decorative motifs. Late 19th–early 20th century.
