Description
PARIS CITY COUNCIL. Pierre Ambroise RICHEBOURG (1810–1875). Photograph of Paris City Hall before it was set alight by the Communards on 23 and 24 May 1871. The photograph shows the Hôtel de Ville, then the seat of the Council of the Commune and the National Guard. Albumen print mounted on card. Autograph inscription signed “le phot. From Richebourg to Mr Baillache”, with the handwritten caption “During the Commune”. Stamp on the reverse. Dimensions of the photograph: 13.5 x 10.2 cm. Dimensions of the backing: 17 x 14.7 cm.
