Description
TEA AND COFFEE SET in silver-coloured metal (3 pieces). Jean DESPRES (1889–1980), 20th century. The set comprises a coffee pot, a teapot and a milk jug. The pieces rest on a circular base decorated with three rows of beads. Curved handles in exotic wood. The lids of the coffee pot and teapot are flat, topped with a wooden knob set on two rows of beaded decoration. Pointed signature ‘J.Després’ (on the base) and silversmith’s hallmark (twice) on the base of each pot. Included is a smaller coffee pot (h. 16.7 cm), of the same design, with the lid missing. A few small areas where the silver plating is missing, and some knocks (to the teapot and the accompanying coffee pot).
