CHINA – Early 19th century
A baluster vase in polychrome and gold-glazed porcelain in the ‘Green Family’ style, featuring multi-lobed medallions depicting women and children, a seated scholar and a servant carrying a qin in a garden, set against a capuchin background adorned with lotus flowers amidst their tendrils, the medallions surmounted by applied polychrome-glazed butterflies; the foot decorated with a frieze of lotus panels and small flowers; the neck adorned with cabbage leaves. On the reverse, the Yu Tang mark in iron red on a turquoise background
Base and neck mounted in gilded bronze to form a water jug.
A very fine mount of chiselled and gilded bronze, with an openwork foliage base, a handle depicting a dragon, and a spout with a bearded head. Engraved: ‘Bequeathed by the Duchess of Montmorency on 22 September 1858’
