JAPAN – Edo period (1603–1868), 19th century Composite armour: Helmet (kabuto): Sujibachi with thirty-two iron plates - neck guard (shikoro): with four brown-lacquered plates attached and laced with blue cord - flaps (fukigaeshi): made of brown-lacquered iron and adorned with the Abe clan of Fukuyama’s crest featuring two crossed falcon feathers. - central ornament (maedate): made of lacquered wood in the shape of oak leaves Face guard (menpo): ressei made of red-lacquered iron, with a horsehair moustache and gold-lacquered teeth (damage, restorations) - Throat guard (yodarekake): comprising three brown-lacquered iron plates laced with blue cord Breastplate (dô): dômaru, opening on one side, made of brown-lacquered iron laced with blue cord - Skirt (kusazuri): consisting of five brown lacquered iron plates, laced with blue - Shoulder guards (sode): consisting of five brown lacquered iron plates, laced with blue - Arm guards (kote): shino style, made of gold and red lacquered iron with floral decoration - Underskirt (haidate): etchu iron - Leg guards (suneate): shino iron Box (yoroi bitsu) made of black lacquered wood Missing parts Expert: PORTIER & Associés
