Description
18th-century Sèvres. A one-litre cup and saucer in soft porcelain of the third size, decorated with polychrome enamel flowers and two friezes of small enamelled pearls and cabochons in slight relief against a sky-blue background. The set is enhanced with gilt edging. Blue enamelled mark featuring two interlaced ‘L’s, the date letter ‘CC’ for 1780, the painter-decorator’s mark ‘P9’ for Pierre Jeune, and the gilder’s mark ‘2000’ for Vincent. Made in 1780. The letter “A” is engraved into the porcelain; these marks appear on both pieces. Saucer: 3 x 12.5 cm; Cup: 6 x 7.5 cm. A minor firing flaw on the underside rim of the saucer, slight irregularities in the decoration on the base of the saucer, and a small chip skilfully restored on the rim of the cup.
