A small set of four vintage boxes from the first half of the 20th century: the first, shaped like a bivalve shell with a gilded brass mount, measures 3.5 x 8 x 8 cm. Slight play at the joints; the second, a pear-shaped turned wooden box with a silver-plated metal mount and partially gilded metal foliage on the top of the hinged lid, 9.5 x 5 cm; in good condition, with some signs of wear; the third, a round powder box in a wood- and ivory-effect composition, decorated with an elegant lady applying make-up to her face on the lid, the interior revealing a mirror, bearing the inscription ‘Lampe Mazda’ on the back 0.9 x 3.8 cm Some wear and discolouration on the decoration; and the last item, a dowsing pendulum in the form of a box made of turned ebony with a screw-on lid bearing the inscription ‘Maison de la radiesthésie 16 rue Saint Roch Paris Déposé’ around the rim, including the chain: 19.5 cm.
