PORCELAIN FROM BEYOND THE RHINE. A pair of five-light candelabra in polychrome porcelain, richly decorated with a garland of roses on the shafts, arms and base, enlivened by two pairs of small children, the first representing spring and summer, the second representing autumn and winter; each marked beneath the base with a double-hatched ‘S’ in blue. Late 19th to early 20th century. 50 x 38 cm (each). One has been restored where the branches meet the body, with a broken arm reattached; the other is in good overall condition, with minor damage and restorations to the flowers and foliage on the cup-shaped bases of the lamps.
