Description
A brooch in 750‰ gold and platinum, decorated with a Diodon hystrix or porcupine fish; the body is in yellow gold, and the eyes are set with four brilliant-cut diamonds arranged in a cascade. The main diamond weighs approx. 0.03 ct; the mouth is made of coral; the rose gold clasp (probably replaced) bears traces of numbering, the inscription ‘MADE IN FRANCE’ and ‘DEPOSE SSM’. On the body, traces of numbering and a pentagon-shaped hallmark. Comparable to the work of Georges LENFANT, probably from around the 1960s. Owl hallmark, imported piece/of uncertain origin from 1893 onwards. Mascaron hallmark, an imported piece from 1913 onwards. 3.4 x 2.5 cm. Weight: 15 g. Slight deformation at some points, minor scratches on the diamonds and small imperfections in the coral.
