Description
Mantel set consisting of a gilt bronze clock on a marble base representing the toilet of Venus in the round. The enamelled dial with Arabic numerals underlined by garlands of flowers bears the inscription "Denière Paris". The movement is signed "Jx Denière à Paris 797". The base is composed of five feet.
With balance wheel and two keys.
It is completed by a pair of gilt bronze cassolettes representing a putti in the round carrying a torch adorned with an acanthus leaf.
They stand on a gilded marble base applied with bronzes carved with friezes of ovals and foliage. The tripod base is decorated with fluting.
Louis XVI style, 19th century.
