Description
(MACRET) – Curved marquetry chest of drawers, with 5 drawers in 3 rows, adorned with chiselled and gilded bronze fittings, featuring Greek fretwork on the sides, with a white marble top. Stamped ‘MACRET’ for Pierre MACRET, who was recognised as a Master Cabinetmaker around 1756–1757. H. 91 – W. 133 – D. 67 cm (marble top added later; normal wear and tear; marquetry repairs). Note: Private collection in the Manche department. This chest of drawers has been in the same family for many years. It miraculously survived the bombing of Saint-Lô in 1944.
