Description
France, reign of Louis XVI (1774-1789). Cavalry flintlock pistol model 1777 1st type from the Manufacture de Charleville, circa 1780 and converted to percussion. Cal. 18 mm. All metal parts with white polished finish oxidised with rust blossom in places. Smooth round barrel with thunderbolt side panels with inspection mark "S 80" for Chef de Brigade De St SERNIN, inspector from 1779 to 1792. The breech tail is marked "M 1777", partly legible, worn. Flintlock lock from the Manufacture de Charleville, hallmarked "F 80" for Jean Joseph FEBVRE, controller from 1777 to 1807. Cast brass fittings, hallmarked "F" for Jean Joseph FEBVRE. Walnut stock. Steel ramrod in head of nail, of style and added. Functional mechanism, with two notches of armed well net and without play. Inside of barrel with surface oxidation. 34 cm (barrel 18.5 cm). (Wear and accidents, the stock is split, the belt hook is missing, the cleaning rod is in style. As is).
