Rare pair of senior officer's (Lieutenant's) shoulder braces of the King's Musketeers of the 1st Company known as the "Grey Musketeers" of the King's Military Household.
The body is made of fine sheet steel sheathed in unbleached cloth and lined with braided braid of gold thread. The underside is upholstered in fine dark blue, almost black, woollen cloth with a crescent-shaped padded cushion covered in daffodil silk. The crest is embroidered with the Musketeers' Cross, the centre in silver cannetille, bordered by baguettes in gold cannetille, the ends fleurdelisées in gold cannetille and three flames in silver cannetille in each corner. The escutcheon is bordered
three gilt spun twirls with a double row of gold twisted fringes known as "spinach seeds" in gilt cannetille. The small module uniform buttons (Diam. 1.7 cm) in gilt stamped brass mounted on brass are present, as are the metal hooks for fixing to the uniform, present on the underside of the body. They come in a blue paper-covered cardboard box.
