Description
France, Restoration period (1814–1830). Order of the Legion of Honour, established in 1802. - Commander’s Cross in gold and enamel. Ram’s head hallmark. Gold centres. Ribbon missing. Gross weight: 46.41 g. 8.5 x 5.7 cm. (Enamel chips and white tips on the hair, traces of glue on the reverse of the centre, good condition). Included is a smaller version of the cross in gold and enamel and its gold chain. Gross weight: 3.66 g. (The chain is damaged with a missing section; the cross is in good condition). Provenance: General Baron of the Empire Louis CLOUET (1781–1862), Field Marshal on 3 October 1823, Knight of Saint Louis, Commander of the Legion of Honour, decorated with the Medal of Charles III of Spain and that of the Tower and Sword of Portugal.
