PRO PETRI SEDE medal, known as the Castelfidardo medal (military merit). Established on 12 November 1860 by Pope Pius IX following the defeat of the Papal troops at the Battle of Castelfidardo during the Risorgimento wars.
Silver-plated model with swivel bail, good-quality period ribbon 28 mm wide.

Accompanied by a British (?) medal of a religious nature bearing the motto ‘quis nos separabit caritate christi’. Silver-plated metal. Complete with its ribbon. Presented in its period case.
