Infantry sabre known as a ‘briquet’, model AN XI, from the Imperial Manufactory at Klingenthal, October 1813 (?).
Bronze mount with 28 flutes. Single-bar guard, stamped with a cursive “B” in an oval for Joseph BISCH, 2nd class inspector from 1809 to 1824, "B" in a circle between sprigs of foliage for 1st class controller Jean-George BICK, corresponding to the period early 1812–1815, then "K" beneath a star for Battalion Commander Joseph KRANTZ
Inspector, corresponding to the period 1812–1813, and “19” in a rectangle (19th model produced?). Flat, slightly curved blade, with a flat back, featuring a small, mottled grey patina, and a partially legible marking on the back: “Manufacture Impériale du Klingenthal Octobre 18.. (?)", the date of production is difficult to read but, based on all the hallmarks, corresponds to 1813. It is hallmarked on the heel with "L" in a circle for François Louis LOBSTEIN, inspector from 1804 to 1821, "B" in a circle between foliage branches for First Class Controller Jean-George BICK, corresponding to the period early 1812–1815, then “K” beneath a star for Battalion Commander Joseph KRANTZ, inspector, corresponding to the period 1812–1813. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, bearing no visible marks or hallmarks; the pommel features a trigger guard.
