Chasseur-style hilt in gilded cast brass (remnants), olive-shaped rivet button. Oval pommel with a long tail, decorated with line engraving, as are all the branches. Wooden handle bound with four-strand filigree shagreen, composed of two twisted brass wires and plain wires. Long, shuttle-shaped guard plates decorated with line engraving. Curved crossguard. Tie missing. Beautiful white blade with a hollow edge and flat back, blued and gilded to one-third, engraved with war trophies and floral motifs. No maker’s mark or armourer’s hallmark. Steel scabbard with two loop rings supported by two sturdy brass bands. Brass pommel. Asymmetrical steel point.
