Description
France, Second Restoration (1815–1830) – Louis-Philippe (1830–1848). Model 1803 sabre for the National Guard, without scabbard. Cast brass mountings, unmarked and unstamped; the dome-shaped pommel has a short button, the wooden tang is bound with cord and sheathed in filigree sheepskin (sheepskin damaged, filigree missing). Rounded joint arch with a figured upper coil, ending in a curved quillon with a ring and button (unmarked). Hilt strap missing. Grey, stained blade, slightly curved, flat and with a flat back, with traces of marking on the back and at the heel. Presence of a hallmark on the heel, partially legible "D" beneath a star (?) 71.5 cm (Blade 58 cm). (Wear and damage, as is).
