Infantry sabre known as a ‘briquet’, AN XI model for the National Guard.
One-piece cast brass hilt with 28 flutes, with no visible hallmark or maker’s mark. Slightly curved blade with a mottled grey patina, hollow-ground edge and flat back, with no visible hallmark or maker’s mark. Leather tie present. Black leather scabbard with two line-decorated brass fittings; the chape has a shield-shaped button.
