Model 1816 Foot Artillery Sabre.
Cast brass mount with eighteen rows of scales, without rivets. The pommel stamped with the cockerel of the July Monarchy, the right leg resting on a globe, inscribed within a medallion on a sandblasted background, on each side. Straight crossguard with a sandblasted background, undecorated, with rounded quillons. Carp-tongue blade with two fuller grooves and a hollow back, with a light grey patina stained in places, without maker’s mark or hallmark. Blackened leather scabbard with a back seam offset to one side within one of the rounded sections and two brass fittings; the rectangular-shaped chape, numbered "619".
