Description
Belgium, early 19th century.
A flintlock pistol converted to percussion, made for an officer in Liège, circa 1820–30.
Calibre approx. 15 mm. All metal parts with a light grey patina, stained in places. Smooth-bore octagonal barrel with rear sight and front sight, slightly flared at the muzzle. Liège hallmark ‘ELG’ on the left side of the frame. Flat-bodied flintlock lock, undecorated. Flat-bodied hammer. The steel counter-plate cut in a bat-wing shape. Cut steel fittings. Walnut stock with a long, finely checkered barrel, featuring a domed steel cap. Steel ramrod present. Functional mechanism with two distinct cocking notches, free of play. Interior of the barrel shows slight surface oxidation.
