Description
France, Second Empire (1852–1870).
After Barnabé de Rougé.
A substantial patinated plaster bust, signed and dated on the underside "Barnabé de Rougé 1858", depicting a brigadier general in full dress uniform. Resting on a pedestal with a rectangular base bearing a coat of arms beneath a baron’s crown, possibly corresponding to the de Lespinay family.
76 x 58 cm.
(Signs of wear and tear, minor damage to the base of the pedestal; in the condition found).
Note: Given the coat of arms on the pedestal, it is possible (?) that the general depicted may be Louis-Armand, Count of Lespinay, Baron of the Empire (1789–1869).
