The pommel stamped with the engineer’s motif of a cuirass mounted on a sapper’s ‘pot-en-tête’ helmet, inscribed within a medallion on a sandblasted background, on each side. Straight crossguard with a sandblasted background, decorated in the centre with a four-petalled flower between two palmettes, and the rounded ends each decorated with a four-petalled flower. White blade, straight with double edges and two fuller grooves, 1831 small model (lightened version known as the 1855 model) with a manufacturer’s mark featuring a crown (?), partially visible and unidentified. 61.5 cm (48 cm). (Signs of wear and patina, a variant of an officer’s sabre with smaller dimensions, uncommon, in good condition).
