A superb 1816-type artillery sabre with a fixed hilt, known as the "PRIX DE CIBLE".
One-piece cast brass mount with eighteen scales and no rivets. The pommel is decorated with the cockerel of the July Monarchy, its right leg resting on a globe, inscribed within a medallion on a sandblasted background on each side. Straight crossguard with a sandblasted background and no decoration, adorned with a screwed-on brass plate marked "PRIX DE CIBLE". The top of the crossguard is marked "7me Cie" on the left side and "1848" on the right side. Natural leather scabbard present. Blade of the 1831 model with a light grey patina, double-edged with a carp-tail shape and a triangular flat at the heel, without manufacturer’s mark or hallmark. Blackened leather scabbard of the model with off-centre back stitching on one side within one of the rounded sections and featuring two brass fittings: the chape with a trigger guard, and the tip stamped with a "B" beneath a star within a shield and "11" within a circle.
