Privately made Model 1831 infantry sabre.
Cast bronze hilt with twenty-six flutes. Straight crossguard with quillons ending in small discs. The underside of the crossguard is stamped "P . R" within an oval, with two other small, illegible stamps. White double-edged blade with a carp-tail tip and a triangular flat at the heel. No maker’s mark; the heel is stamped "P . R" in an oval. Blackened leather scabbard with central back stitching and two brass fittings; the chape has a trigger guard.
