Model 1831 infantry sabre, privately manufactured by “PIHET FRERES” in Châtellerault.
Cast brass mount with twenty-six flutes. Straight crossguard with quillons ending in small discs. Blade with a light grey patina, two-edged in a carp-tongue shape with a triangular flat at the heel, bearing hallmarks and the inscription "Pihet Frères" on one side and "Châtellerault 1833" on the other. Blackened leather scabbard with two brass fittings, the chape featuring a crossguard.
