National Guard Model 1816 foot artillery sabre, a rare variant with a pommel stamped with a flaming grenade, bearing the same serial number.
One-piece cast brass mount with eighteen scale-like ridges and no rivets. The pommel stamped with a flaming grenade on each side. Straight crossguard with a sandblasted finish and no decoration, marked "910". Hilt strap missing. 1816-model sword blade with a light grey patina, featuring a long central hollow edge. The maker’s marks and hallmarks have worn away. Blackened leather scabbard of the type with a dorsal seam offset to one side within one of the rounded sections, featuring two brass fittings; the chape has a trigger guard and is marked with the same number “910”. The pommel is hallmarked "B" within a circle and "6" within an oval.
