Sword known as the ‘Model 1838 Administration’.
Cast brass mountings, horn hilt with two vertical grooves on the sides, crossguard with straight quillons ending in balls. Blade with a light grey patina, two hollow edges and a central ridge, bearing the maker’s mark on the heel: “Coulaux a & c” on one side and “Klingenthal” on the other; the mark corresponds to production circa 1845–50. Blackened leather scabbard with a central back seam and two brass fittings; the chape has a trigger guard.
64 cm (Blade 50.5 cm).
