Description
Belgium, mid-19th century. Marine-style pocket percussion pistol, made in Liège, circa 1840. Calibre 12 mm. The frames and breech block are made of brass, engraved with a small geometric line pattern. Brass barrel, with moulded sides and a rim at the muzzle in the style of artillery pieces. Stamped on the breech block with ‘ELG’. Steel hammer. Trigger under the trigger guard, in steel, engraved with a small decorative pattern. Varnished walnut stock in a teardrop shape, finely checkered, with a diamond-shaped nickel silver thumb rest. Functional mechanism with two clear cocking notches and no play. The inside of the barrel shows slight green-grey surface oxidation. Complete. 19 cm (barrel 7.5 cm). (Signs of wear and patina, minor knocks on the barrel, in good condition).
