Description
France, Second Republic (1848–1852) – Second Empire (1852–1870). Fire officer’s dagger, without scabbard. Fittings in cast brass; the pommel is ovoid with a rivet-head knob, and the crossguard is cup-shaped with two quillons curling towards the point. Handle in fluted black horn. Blade with a light grey patina, stained in places, double-edged with two fuller grooves and a central ridge, without maker’s mark or hallmark. 52 cm (Blade 37.5 cm). (Signs of wear and minor damage from use. Fairly good condition).
