A privately made ornamental sabre for an officer of the National Guard, without a scabbard.
One-piece cast brass hilt with eighteen scales, without rivets. The pommel is smooth and undecorated. Straight crossguard with rounded quillons curving towards the blade, ending in flat drops, the contours decorated with lines on a sandblasted background. No tie. Straight blade with a light grey patina, stained in places, with a double hollow edge and flat back, and a counter-cut towards the point, with no visible markings or hallmarks.
72.5 cm (blade 56.3 cm).
