Description
France, Second Empire (1852–1870). Small 1831-style sabre (lightweight version known as the 1855 model), for the cantinières of the National Guard, without a scabbard. Cast brass mount with twenty-six flutes. Crossguard ending in quillons decorated with rings. White blade, double-edged with a central ridge, without maker’s mark or hallmark. 54 cm (blade 41 cm). (Signs of wear and normal use, in good condition).
