France, mid-19th century Model 1845 Infantry Officer’s sabre, without maker’s mark. Gilt cast brass mountings (remnants), pommel edged with laurel leaves. Filigree horn hilt. Guard openwork with plant motifs and rosettes. The arch ends in a coiled quillon. Tassel missing. Blade with mottled grey patina, hollow-ground with a flat back and a fuller near the back, without markings or hallmarks. Black leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings and two suspension rings. 90 cm (Blade 76 cm). (Signs of wear and tear, scabbard tip missing, fairly good condition).
