Description
France, mid-19th century. Light Cavalry sabre, Model 1822, unmarked (markings worn away) and without scabbard. Cast brass hilt with two side arms. Calotte with a raised rim topped by a rivet-head dome and short tail, guard with a curved tip. Corded grip covered with filigree sheepskin. Cravate missing. Blade with a slight grey patina and round back, without markings or hallmarks. 107 cm (Blade 92.5 cm). (Signs of wear and patina from age; sabre previously cleaned and restored; sheepskin and filigree added later; markings and hallmarks have disappeared; sold as is).
