Description
Belgium, mid-19th century. Four-barrelled percussion pepper revolver with forced-feed mechanism, "MARIETTE Breveté", manufactured in Liège, signed "Fnx par Gastinne Renette à Paris", circa 1850–1860. Calibre approx. 11 mm. Serial number 1465. All metal parts with a light grey patina. Rounded frame, finely engraved with scrolls and arabesques. Signed “Mariette Breveté” on the grip band. The top of the frame is signed “Fnx par Gastinne Renette à Paris”. The rotating mechanism is stamped “ELG *” and “Z” beneath a closed crown. Round barrels, damascened and numbered 1 to 4, smooth with faux rifling at the muzzle. Muzzles in their original blued finish. Ring trigger with adjustment screw. Stock plates in finely checkered walnut. Single-action mechanism in working order and free of play. The inside of the barrels is very clean. Complete. 18.5 cm (barrels 7 cm). (Signs of wear and patina from age, good condition).
